Fusion Fête a Success!

This Spring, we tried something new and different. Not because we don’t all love the Spring Fair…because we do! Rather, it was an idea conceived by EDB in hopes of bringing everyone together to celebrate the many cultures and traditions of our Laronde school community in a respectful, and inclusive environment. EDB’s vision was to foster community through food, art, clothing, music, dance, and sport.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

I would like to thank the EDB Committee, the Fusion Fête Committee, and the many parent volunteers,

who spent months planning and organizing, so that we could sit peacefully on a blanket while watching

our children enjoying the many wonderful artistic, musical, and sporting events around us. Their hard

work did not go unnoticed, and we are so appreciative of their efforts.

I would especially like to extend our deepest gratitude to kindergarten parents, Ben and Mannel Kilford,

who are the co-founders of Grounds & Greens. Ben and Mannel gave generously of their time and talents preparing creative and culturally diverse menus for us to explore the many delicious flavors from around the world. Their gracious contributions were invaluable to the experience.

Also, to the many student artists, singers, and dancers. Thank you for sharing a piece of who you are. We love your courage, and your performances made this event so much fun!

Lastly, I would like to thank Mother Nature! The sun shone down on us, allowing us to truly enjoy.

My 9 year old daughter asked me what the word “Fusion” means. Of course, I avoided the chemistry definition, and I opted for this one:

“A merging of diverse, distinct, or separate elements into a unified whole.”

I hope everyone felt a sense of unity, among all of our beautiful differences.
